Campus Canteen launches at Southbank
After the successful launch of Campus Canteen at Parkville in February, the University of Melbourne is excited to open Campus Canteen at Southbank.
Opening today on the ground floor of the Southbank Performing Arts building (Building 879) in Dodds Street, Campus Canteen is set to become the go-to spot for students and staff to meet, eat and recharge on the Southbank campus.
With the rising cost of living, the University is committed to providing various food options to suit the needs of our whole community. The Canteen will provide healthy, affordable meals for just $5 for students (with valid student ID) and $12 for staff.
Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music Professor Marie Sierra said the launch of the Campus Canteen at Southbank will help address the significant issue of food security for students. “I am delighted to see this Campus Canteen opening in time for Semester 2, providing nutritious and affordable food options for students and staff in our creative community,” she said.
Students have been involved in space design, food option evaluation and selecting the name. Campus Canteen’s nut-free kitchen accommodates various dietary requirements, and will be open on weekdays for lunch (11:30am to 2pm) and dinner (5pm to 7:30pm), complementing food offerings already available at Southbank.
Meals will be supplied by local provider Carlton Providores, who have a 10-year history of delighting student residents of Wilam Hall (previously Medley Hall) with their offerings.
