In the latest in our How To series – shot from home while the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music operates virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions – Head of Guitar Dr Ken Murray shows us how to play a simple blues solo that's guaranteed to impress friends and family.
Dr Ken Murray has developed a singular path as a guitarist combining performance, composition, teaching and research. He has championed and recorded Spanish music from the early twentieth century, worked extensively with contemporary composers and has been active as a performer of Brazilian and South American musical styles.
In addition to heading up the Melbourne Conservatorium's Guitar program at undergraduate and post-graduate level, and the annual Guitar Perspectives festival, Dr Murray continues to inspire students from all musical backgrounds and experience levels through the University of Melbourne breadth subject Riffs: Guitar Cultures and Practice.
