The Invictus Quartet officially formed in early 2017 and have since been praised for their luminous and blended sound. Its four current members all study at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In 2017, they participated in the Australian Festival of Chamber Music Winterschool and the Mimir Chamber Music Festival (Melbourne) as emerging artists. In addition to being prize winners of Victoria’s Ringwood and Waverley eisteddfods, Invictus are proud recipients of the Trudy Williams Bequest and the Audience Prize on The Talent Series, 3MBS Classical Radio Station (2017).
In 2018, Invictus Quartet competed in the 13th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, Austria against seven other string quartets, and in July they travelled to Fort Worth, Texas to perform in the Mimir Chamber Music Festival as emerging artists. Invictus also featured as artists in the Four Seasons Fine Music Festival, 2018.
Stepping out of their usual territory, Invictus joined Melbourne producer/artist Billy Davis on stage during his August residency at The Curtin in Melbourne, and again at Government House for the Youth Leaders Reception with Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their Australian Tour. Invictus is excited to be playing challenging works that move and inspire audiences, not only in the classical music world, but also expanding to contemporary music.
