Equipment can be borrowed from two main locations. The FTV Equipment Store (All School Loans) located at the rear of the Film and TV Building (B861 - enter via the driveway on Grant Street) and the Music Storeroom located beside the main entrance to the Music building (B862 - enter from St Kilda Rd). Please note that bookings are not excepted via phone or email; you must reserve and borrow/return all equipment either online or in person. All equipment reservations are made and managed online via the CHEQROOM app:

THE DIGITAL PRINT STUDIO IS CURRENTLY CLOSED

Digital print runs take place on Mon, Wed & Thurs (DURING TEACHING PERIODS ONLY).

Unfortunately on-the-spot printing requests can not be accommodated at this time.

DIGITAL PRINT RUNS TAKE PLACE DURING TEACHING PERIODS ONLY. OTHER TIMES BY APPOINTMENT.

Any printing required outside of regular print run times can be arranged by appointment with Andrew McLaughlin. Print files that are placed on the Print Server or Dropbox by 9am prior to a print run will be printed that day. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR FILES ARE SET UP CORRECTLY TO PRINT SPECIFICATIONS AND HAVE BEEN PAID FOR. Setup instructions can be found below.

Digital print runs take place on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings (during teaching periods only).

Payment

Payment is required BEFORE printing and is made via the Materials Shop (online eCart system). Click on the options listed below to access the appropriate payment page.

Print pickup

You will receive an email notification with instructions once your print job has been completed.

Uploading Print Files

Print files MUST BE SAVED AT THE CORRECT SIZE AND INCLUDE ANY REQUIRED BORDER. PLEASE ALSO INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND THE PRINT SIZE IN THE FILE NAME (e.g. YourFullName_A3-1.tif). Print files can be either copied directly onto the Print Server (located on the desktop of all studio computers) or uploaded to the Digital Hub Dropbox.

BASIC FILE SETUP:

Between 180ppi (minimum) - 360ppi (maximum).
Avoid resampling your file if possible.
It is NOT required you resize your file to 300ppi.
16 bit RGB (do not convert to CMYK)
FLATTENED .tiff OR .jpeg (No .psd files please)
PDF files are supported for plan prints
Please include your name AND the size required in the file name.

ALL FILES WILL BE PRINTED AS IS. IF YOU REQUIRE A SPECIFIC BORDER IT MUST BE INCLUDED ON THE FILE. IF NO BORDER IS PRESENT THE IMAGE WILL BE PRINTED FIT TO PAGE. THIS MEANS YOUR IMAGE WILL BE RESIZED TO FIT EDGE-TO-EDGE ON EITHER THE LENGTH OR WIDTH OF THE PAPER SIZE REQUESTED.

REMEMBER TO COMPLETE PAYMENT TO ENSURE YOUR PRINT IS PROCESSED.

FILM SCANNING

High Dynamic Range (HDR) scans from an Imacon Flextight Film Scanner. Supported film formats include: 35mm, 120 (medium format) and 4x5 (large format). Booking is required in order to ensure that the scanner is made available. The film scanner is located in the Digital Print Studio (Room G11 Library Building).
