Orientation for Graduate Diploma in Music

New Student Interviews are being conducted for all instrument specialisations. There are offered as both online and in-person sessions. Students are required to register and attend one session only. Registrations can be made via New Student Interviews 

If your specialisation is aural studies, composition, improvisation, music history or music theory, you are not required to attend the performance-based instrument information sessions, or attend a new student interview.

Monday 22 February

Let your journey at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music begin!  Orientation Week starts with an Acknowledgment of Country and a formal welcome from our new Dean, the Director of the Conservatorium, and the Director of the VCA. Then get prepared for the  semester ahead with important information, performances, and other guest speakers.

Join VCA Musical Theatre students Mmoloki (Milo) Hartill-Batsietswe and Sherry Watson in conversation about their experiences as women from diverse backgrounds at the Southbank Campus. This engaging online discussion is a brilliant start to UMSU Southbank's Town Hall Talks as it explores what students can do to make effective change while training and after graduation. Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to a fruitful discussion.
