Let your journey at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music begin!  Orientation Week starts with an Acknowledgment of Country and a formal welcome from our new Dean, the Director of the Conservatorium, and the Director of the VCA. Then get prepared for the  semester ahead with important information, performances, and other guest speakers.

Delivered with Dr Brad Merrick (MMus PT Course Co-ordinator)

This session will include a review of all key aspects of the course and also clarify subject structures, individual music lessons and delivery within the program. Students are encouraged to come along via Zoom and also bring any questions they have so they can be answered and discussed with the group.

2.30 pm - 4.00 pm, Orientation Interviews (Optional)
Hosted  by Dr Brad Merrick (MMus PT Course Co-ordinator)

These interviews  are available for students who did not have an interview as part of their audition and entry into the course. They are an opportunity to chat to the course coordinator about any  study areas that need clarification. Sessions are ten minutes and will be delivered via Zoom.

6.30 pm – 8.30 pm, Southbank Town Hall Talks 1: The Future of a Diverse Arts Campus
Join VCA Musical Theatre students Mmoloki (Milo) Hartill-Batsietswe and Sherry Watson in conversation about their experiences as women from diverse backgrounds at the Southbank Campus. This engaging online discussion is a brilliant start to UMSU Southbank's Town Hall Talks as it explores what students can do to make effective change while training and after graduation. Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to a fruitful discussion.

9.30 am - 10.30 am, Professional Practice One - Orientation Seminar: Placement presentation and overview of teaching requirements
Presented by Dr Leon de Bruin (Teacher placement Co-ordinator)

All new students should attend this Zoom meeting where the important teacher placement process and allocations will be overviewed and discussed with all new students in the course. Here subject expectations, and placements etc, will be overviewed.
