Rebecca Najdowski: Inverted Landscapes
Inverted Landscapes addresses how photomedia has traditionally shaped nature to humanity’s desire — reducing the animate world to a representation, a distanced landscape to be considered. The exhibition includes works made by directly exposing photo-materials to natural phenomena like geothermal activity, photographs created through haptic manipulations of conventional landscape imagery, and digital 3D scans of flora. Through non-standard operations of the technologies or misuse of the tools, the project aims to expose the photographic conditions which objectify and distance nature from our human experience.
