Ghostlight

As theatres went dark during 2020, the tradition of the ghostlight kept hopes for the return of live performance alive. To celebrate the power of this tradition the graduating company of VCA Music Theatre 2020 students, directed by Tyran Parke, created the video project, ‘Ghostlight’ at Melbourne’s iconic Regent Theatre. The project is a collection of celebrated music theatre songs that once reverberated in the walls of the Regent Theatre, performed by a single ghostlight. It also includes interviews by the VCA Music Theatre 2020 graduating company with Australia’s most noted music theatre artists whose work is part of the Regent Theatre’s rich history. Ghostlight is a celebration of Australia’s magnificent music theatre history and offers a shining beacon of hope for its future.
