Master of Creative Arts Therapy: How do I make my  application more competitive?

To improve your chances of success on application, we recommended that you become more familiar with the dance movement or drama therapy disciplines through:

  • Undertaking professional development activities as offered by professional associations ANZACATA and DTAA (Dance Movement Therapy Association of Australasia);
  • Reading about the modality;
  • Seeing a therapist in action or participating as a client yourself;
  • Doing work (volunteer or paid) in a human service role, where you gain experience working with people, perhaps those unlike yourself;
  • Developing skills and experience in improvised movement or drama by attending classes or workshops.

* Some of these suggestions might be difficult to access but finding alternatives such as online videos of practice by qualified professionals, and reading relevant literature are still viable options.
