How to Audition
All students are required to undertake an audition for the Academy.

Audition Requirements
For the audition, auditionees should prepare the following:
Violin, Viola and Cello
- Two (2) scales of your choice in three (3) octaves and arpeggios (major and relative minor of choice).
- One (1) etude (excerpt).
- One (1) piece that is representative of your most recent repertoire learned in the past six (6) months.
- Sight reading.
Piano accompaniment for auditions is not required, however you are very welcome to bring a pianist to accompany you in your audition if you like.
Piano
- Four (4) scales: One (1) major, one (1) harmonic minor, one (1) melodic minor and one (1) chromatic scales; two (2) scales commencing on white keys and two (2) scales commencing on black keys over four (4) octaves.
- Four (4) Arpeggios, root position only: One (1) major, one (1) minor, one (1) dominant 7th and one (1) diminished 7th, two (2) scales commencing on white keys and two (2) scales commencing on black keys over four (4) octaves.
- Two (2) excerpts from contrasting pieces (no longer than two (2) minutes each).
- Sightreading.
