The flexible space is customisable and can be used as a bar and lounge for up to 80 people, or a theatre space seating 120.

    Lionel’s cafe and student lounge

Lionel’s is a popular café and student lounge providing freshly prepared food and specialist coffee for staff, students and local workers, as well as audience members seeing a show or performance in the precinct.

The Lionel Gell Lounge (Lionel’s) is named after philanthropist Lionel Gell, founder of the Lionel Gell Foundation, acknowledging his extraordinary generosity and advocacy over many years and his deep commitment to the arts. A portrait of Gell overlooks the space, painted by his friend and contemporary Dora McRae.

The Foyer area at Lionel's is both a café and an informal performance area hosting primarily Jazz, Improvisation and Music Theatre events.
