Southbank Campus

Our vibrant Southbank Campus is home to the Victorian College of the Arts, the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts & Culture.

Welcome to a community of inspiring artists

With world-class facilities in the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct and cultural centre, the prime location of our Southbank campus offers a uniquely immersive, industry-focused experience for our students and staff.

We respectfully acknowledge the people of the Boonwurrung and the Woi Wurrung, who have danced their dances, sung their songs and lived their culture on this land for tens of thousands of years.

Connect with community through outdoor spaces

Linear Park is a vibrant open space with areas for outdoor performances. It spans the southern half of the Southbank campus, connecting Dodds and Sturt Streets. The park promotes interaction among students, the public, and performers, linking the University’s Southbank campus with the Melbourne Arts Precinct.

The Wilin Garden, named after the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development, is an important site on the Southbank campus that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, students, and staff. It hosts cultural traditions such as Welcome to Country and smoking ceremonies for new students.

Our purpose-built facilities are situated at the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct, bringing us shoulder to shoulder with dozens of creative industry partners.

The campus sits alongside many iconic cultural institutions, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Theatre Company, ACMI X, Melbourne Recital Centre, The Australian Ballet, Chunky Move, Arts Centre Melbourne, and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.

With exhibitions, performances, and masterclasses on their doorstep, students are immersed in Melbourne’s artistic life. Set within this lively, world-leading artistic community, our Southbank campus is a creative catalyst for Melbourne, where learning meets practice and artistic minds create change. The possibilities for collaboration are endless.
