The Southbank Hub brings together the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music Library and Student Services facilities in a light-filled contemporary building designed by Lyons Architecture. This student-centred complex has a strong focus on creating social and collaborative spaces for students to study, connect and relax.

Library, study spaces, and tech spaces
The Southbank Library draws together the Louise Hanson-Dyer Music Library and the Lenton Parr Music, Visual and Performing Arts Library to create the largest library of its type in Australia.
A rich resource for students and researchers alike, the library provides up-to-date digital and physical facilities to support the Faculty’s extensive collections of books, music scores, journals and media, as well as special and rare collections. The library also contains self-service recording facilities available to students and staff.
Student lounge and student services
Drop into our Southbank Student Hub to relax, connect with other students, use the community kitchen at the student lounge, speak with a Course Adviser, or access other student-focused services.

Student support

Wellbeing and cultural safety on campus
The University takes the wellbeing and cultural safety of its students and staff very seriously. The Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts offers support for Indigenous students on our Southbank campus. The University also has a range of cultural safety and wellbeing resources available.
Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides free, confidential, short-term psychological counselling to currently enrolled students, as well as a range of workshops, mental health training, and helpful resources.
Student support services is a student health and wellbeing hub offering a range of support services, including 24/7 online mental health crisis support.
Student accommodation (off campus)
The Off-Campus Housing Network is a free peer-to-peer information exchange platform for University of Melbourne students to find or list private accommodation located off-campus. Students can also use the Flatmates tool to find other University of Melbourne students looking for shared accommodation.
University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU) at Southbank
UMSU host free weekly events like barbecues, engaging conversations, and run campaigns to shed light on issues affecting students at our campus.
They are based out of the Southbank Library, in the UMSU Space on Level 2, The Hub Building.
