A message from Professor Richard Kurth,
Director of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music
Welcome to the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music!
If you’re a new student in the Conservatorium — or the MCM or the Con, for short — you’ve come here because you want to develop your skills and knowledge in one or more of the many musical genres that we offer: contemporary composition, classical performance, jazz and improvisation, digital and interactive music collaboration, early music, world music, music business and entrepreneurship, musicology and ethnomusicology, music teaching, music therapy, music cognition… and more! In short, we are a community of diverse music worlds and opportunities, and we are delighted that you are joining our community to broaden and deepen your musical experience and creativity!
