Mimir Chamber Music Festival 2019

The Mimir Chamber Music Festival returned to its second home at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music from 24 August – 1 September in 2019, giving Australian audiences the opportunity to experience some of the world's finest chamber musicians in action.

Fresh from its 22nd season in Fort Worth, Texas, the Mimir Chamber Music Festival features leaders of North America’s top orchestras, Grammy Award-nominated recording artists and faculty members of premiere conservatories in the United States and Australia. In the United States, Mimir has been listed as a “summer hotspot” in The New York Times and Travel & Leisure magazine, and a “Top 10 Musical Event of the Year" by The Dallas Morning News. Closer to home, The Age hailed the festival as “…US chamber music-making at its magniloquent best.”

Named for the Norse god of wisdom, Mimir Artists will present three unique public performances at the new Ian Potter Southbank Centre during the week-long festival. They will also guide young musicians from the Melbourne Conservatorium and local secondary schools in a range of master classes, coaching and demonstrations. Masterclasses and student performances are free and open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.
