CAMTRU Graduate Research Programs

The CAMTRU graduate research program is an opportunity to be part of a vibrant and growing creative arts and music therapy research community at the University of Melbourne. Graduate researchers (PhD candidates) will have access to state-of-the-art academic facilities and highly skilled academic research staff, and will be supported through their candidature with research training programs and individual supervision – from local and international discipline-specific experts.

PhD enrolments are conducted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the proposed study, the availability of appropriate supervisors within our unit, and Melbourne University timelines and priorities. Application is a two-step process. Applicants must first submit a CV and research proposal to the CAMTRU team for an internal unit review using a prescribed report template. After this review, applicants will be advised if CAMTRU is able to support their PhD application. This is dependent on the strength of the proposal, our internal supervision capacity based on the proposed project, and CAMTRU’s priorities. Applicants must then undertake the university-wide application process.  PhD applicants are expected to be practicing creative arts or music therapists registered with the appropriate professional body for their discipline.
