The University of Melbourne Wind Symphony: Reverberation, Sunday 15 Oct 2023

Reverberation is a dazzling celebration of the rhythm and interconnectedness of the natural world. Opening with a gripping display of energy and pulse by the Conservatorium’s Brass, Percussion and Saxophone Ensembles, The University of Melbourne Wind Symphony takes to the stage in the second act.

The concert culminates in the world premiere of Kate Tempany's Great Barrier Reef Concerto for West African Percussion, Alto Saxophone and Wind Symphony. This visionary project depicts Australia’s Great Barrier Reef on a massive and unforgettable scale, blending virtuosic Guinean rhythm with an extraordinary palette of sound, form and colour inspired by the coral ecosystem. Scored for leading Australian-Guinean percussionist Mohamed Camara together with internationally renowned saxophonist Joseph Lallo.
