The Chairs by Ionesco was due for an overhaul… or perhaps just a good ignoring of all together. In I’LL EXPLAIN IT ALL TO YOU LATER., 16 emerging theatre makers create three 30 minute, high energy, low inhibition responses to another old white guy’s seminal text.

Each performance runs for approximately 30 minutes with a brief 15 minute interval between each.

Please note, as this is a new work, content warnings will be advised and updated as the theatre makers progress through the devising process.

Angelfood

The ten seconds between hitting the water and feeling your heart stop.
The axis between the mind ascending and the body deteriorating.
Autolysis, bloat, active and advanced decay, skeletonisation.

Angelfood is an experimental, multi-form work, influenced by Eugene Ioesco’s The Chairs.

Six strangers congregate at a desolate petrol station amidst a storm of unprecedented scale and power.

The year is 2038.

How does one reconcile their life and legacy when all there is to do is await the inevitable?

Content Warning: Natural disaster, misogyny, simulation physical aggression, discussions of themes of death, the future and the climate crisis.

RECESS

Recess is the first time we have the chance to be an insider or an outsider.
I remember being led over to the other girls my age.
I remember a circle forming with me stood on the outside.
I remember inventing everyone’s favourite game.
I think I can remember what it felt like to be a child.
