For the first time in five years, the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra embarked on an international tour to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The first half featured a stunningly beautiful new work, Hun Tur, composed by the Conservatorium’s Melody Eötvös, and Ginastera’s incredibly virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring soloist Timothy Kan. The last piece, Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, was a grandeur of over 100 musicians performing in harmony.
