Mimir Chamber Music Festival 2024

Fresh off its 27th season in the USA, the Mimir Chamber Music Festival returns to Melbourne to celebrate its 10th anniversary season in 2024. Featuring an array of public performances, master classes and coaching sessions for Conservatorium students and Melbourne pre-tertiary students, Mimir Artists offer a week of chamber music immersion for music lovers across Melbourne.

Mimir Chamber Masterclasses

During the week, the Mimir Chamber Music Festival hosts a variety of masterclasses led by world renowned Mimir Artists. Participants can participate in and observe these masterclasses which are tailored specifically to string chamber ensembles and soloists.

Chamber Music Masterclasses
These masterclasses are catered for chamber music ensembles. Selected ensembles will be able to perform a piece of music they have chosen in front of a group, and work with Mimir Masterclass Artists on different aspects of the piece. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to refine your ensemble's technique and artistry.

Solo Instrumental Masterclasses
These masterclasses are catered for soloists. Selected individuals will be able to perform a piece of music they have chosen and work with a Mimir Masterclass Artist on different aspects of the piece. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to refine your technique and artistry.

For those wishing to participate in a masterclass, please express your interest when booking your participant ticket. Participants who have been selected to perform in a masterclass will be notified of the outcome via email.

All attendees and participants are welcome and encouraged to attend and observe the masterclasses.

This masterclass program is suitable for Secondary School Students.

Sunday 25th August
Chamber Music Masterclass 1
1:30pm – 2:30pm, Room 709, The Ian Potter Southbank Centre
Participants will have the opportunity to participate and observe in masterclasses with the Mimir Artists. Attend this session with your ensemble and workshop a piece of your choice with the Mimir Artist.

Monday 26th August
Solo Instrumental Masterclasses
3:00pm – 5:00pm
The Ian Potter Southbank Centre
These masterclasses will focus on solo repertoire, and participants will split off into instrumental groups to participate and observe in masterclasses with the Mimir Artists.

Violin Masterclass with Gabriela Diaz, Room 801

Participants who have applied to play in a masterclass with a Mimir Artist will be notified via email if they have been selected.

All other attendees will be welcome to attend and observe the masterclasses.

Participants will have the opportunity to participate and observe in masterclasses with the Mimir Artists. Attend this session with your ensemble and workshop a piece of your choice with the Mimir Artist.

Event Information
For those wishing to apply as a chamber ensemble, please select one member of your ensemble to send in the expression of interest – they will be the main contact in all communication.

Participants who have applied to play in the masterclasses will be notified via email if they have been selected.

Parent/Guardian passes are available for those who wish to attend the day alongside a participant aged 17 years and younger. Attendees aged 14 years and under are required to have a parent/guardian or teacher attend with them.

Observer/Teacher/ Parent/Guardian Passes

Observer passes are available to those who wish to attend the day without participating in the rehearsals and concert performance.

Parent/Guardian passes are available for those who wish to attend the day alongside a participant 17 years and younger.
