Professor Felicity Baker
Professor Felicity Baker (music therapy) is Associate Dean Research for the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music and Director, International Research Partnerships for the Creative Arts and Music Therapy Research Unit.
We are delighted to introduce ourselves as the co-Directors of the International Music Therapy Clinical Trial Network (IMTCTnet): Catherine Carr from Queen Mary University in London, Joke Bradt from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and Felicity Baker from the University of Melbourne.
Our network has been established with the primary aim of advancing the field of music therapy by facilitating the planning, implementation, and dissemination of high-quality clinical trials.
We recognise that conducting trials can be challenging, involving substantial costs and demanding specialized skills. Furthermore, we acknowledge the challenges faced by individuals and institutions in allocating time and resources to initiate and lead such trials.
Drawing from our own experiences, we recognize that collaboration offers invaluable support, knowledge sharing, expertise, resource pooling, and the potential for greater impact through project scalability. Identifying the need for a dedicated space that fosters collaboration and support, we have launched this network with the hope of partially addressing this requirement.
IMTCTnet will provide a range of valuable services to our members, including:
Webinars
We will organise webinars that enable network members to attend informative presentations and workshops on specific topics related to music therapy clinical trials. These sessions will cover areas such as trial resourcing, interdisciplinary team building, and the development of fidelity tools.

Global Partnership
Through our network, individuals and institutions interested in partnering for international or multi-site trials can connect with one another, facilitating collaborative opportunities on a global scale.
Research Call Alerts
We will keep our members informed about relevant research funding opportunities by providing timely alerts and notifications regarding research calls and grant applications. This ensures that our members stay updated and have a better chance of accessing funding.
Research Dissemination
IMTCTnet will actively disseminate research outcomes and publications, with a particular emphasis on sharing findings that may not have been published in our discipline's primary journals. By highlighting a diverse range of research, we aim to broaden the knowledge base and encourage the exchange of innovative ideas.
Member Research Profiles
We will showcase the research profiles and activities of our members. This platform will serve as a valuable resource for networking, collaboration, and discovering potential research partners.
